As we are almost ready to install our base units in the laundry room, I thought I would share with you my inspiration for this room. I always knew I wanted white gloss units, as I am prone to change my mind often, so thought these would be more versatile. I’ve also chosen a white concrete worktop, against advice from several friends that this will look too “cold” with the white units! As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, the whole house will have oak floors and doors so this will serve to add warmth to the room.
When I first started looking at decor, I spent hours scouring Pinterest for inspiration. I knew I wanted to incorporate navy into my design, as it’s on trend now. Here are my favourite looks:
This one is from Brepurposed
And this one from Lily Pad Cottage.
They both include white units, navy accents and wood and wicker for warmth. With these ideas in mind I set about creating my own mood board.
You can see I’ve included the white units and oak floor so I can get a feel for how the other accents will look against these. I will be having a deep stainless steel sink with a shower tap. I intend to have my laundry detergents displayed in wooden and white jars on this wooden tray. The stainless steel drying rack is from IKEA. I would also like a couple of navy and white laundry bags hanging in the room, both for decorative purposes and practicality. Space permitting, I would love to add a large faux plant. As the room will be galley shaped, I’m not sure if a rug will be practical; that’s one of the things that will wait until the room is completed. Watch this space to see it all come together over the next few weeks!
