If you read my post about Spring cleaning, you will know that I have love/hate relationship with cleaning – I love a clean house, but hate cleaning! As I was spring cleaning yesterday, I decided to clean my wooden blinds. What a chore!! They are a nightmare to keep clean, dust is attracted to them like a magnet. I have tried several different ways to clean them. I’ve used one of these:
This on is from Lakeland. Using it dry, the dust just gets ‘shuffled’ along the wooden lat, so I tried it wet, but that just made a much bigger mess! I’ve tried closing the blinds and washing them with a sponge but that left a line of dust at the back. The only way I can clean them is by wiping each individual lat thoroughly, and given that I currently have them in almost every room, you can imagine how long that takes!
Don’t get me wrong, I love how these blinds look in my rooms, but in our new extension we have opted for these:
The double glazed units have an integral blind between the glass so no more dusting! As we move through the house with our renovations we intend to replace all of the windows with these. I know it’s a huge expense, but such a time saver, so well worth it my eyes!
In the mean time, I still have my wooden blinds so if anyone has any cleaning tips, please share!
