I’ve always wanted to go to the Ideal Home Show so was delighted when the opportunity came up this year. I didn’t really know what to expect but was surprised how big Olympia, Kensington is. We treated ourselves to VIP tickets and had the doors opened for use by a very smart doorman into a private lounge, and had a complimentary hot drink, while we waited for the show to open.
We started by just meandering through the different sections, but it was the kitchens where we got our bargains. I didn’t realise that I would actually be able to purchase anything, I thought it would be just full of demonstrations! So, when we spotted this display we got a bit excited as we have been looking at one of these for our kitchen;
it’s a boiling water tap, so it means no kettle on display! What I also didn’t realise was that some of the exhibiting companies offer special discounted prices for purchases at the show, so first bargain in the bag! (well not literally, as they offer home delivery).
Next stop was to Cooks & Kitchens display to check out the ovens; I’ve had my eye on this beauty for a while:
It’s a Neff hide and slide oven. Before seeing it, I was a little put off that you didn’t seem to be able buy a double oven but have now seen that you can buy many different combinations and trim them with a joining strip so that it looks like one unit. They were also offering discounted prices so we ended up buying not only the oven, but a small combination microwave oven, a warming drawer and an induction hob too! But they did throw in a free set of pans into the bargain!
Nest we headed upstairs to the food and drink area and we were tempted by this:
We had a free taste and it was DELICIOUS! Just like liquid toffee! So we picked up a bottle of this and carried on.
Not sure if our last purchase was a bargain or not, but hey ho! We met a very nice man offering free wine tasting so after sampling (several!) different ones, we had signed up for a case! Roll on next Friday when it’s delivered!
I’ve got to say I would definitely go back to the show, especially now I know what to expect!
