As you may, or may not, have noticed I haven’t updated the blog since May. I made a conscious decision back then that blogging wasn’t for me. I made the mistake of being obsessed with numbers: numbers of followers, numbers of likes, number of shares etc, etc, etc. I know lots of other bloggers also do this, but for me, it took all the pleasure away from the blog. Instead of just writing and sharing photos of what I wanted to, I found I was spending so much time trying to promote the blog, that it took over my life! I looked at everything through the eyes of a camera, looking for the perfect photo for the blog. After much deliberation, and many hours reading blogs that I love, I’ve come to the conclusion that the reason I love these blogs is that the bloggers write about what they love and what excites them and not what will draw lots of readers.
So, I’ve decided that I will continue with this blog, but I won’t try to write at least once a week, which keeps your followers high, I won’t write about the latest trends if they don’t interest me and I won’t be looking for sponsors or affiliate links. If they come along, then fine, but that’s not the reason behind this blog.
There have been several times that I have wanted to restart the blog and tried hard to resist, but I’ve decided I can’t resist any longer! So on with the update…
In my absence, my lovely laundry room has gone from this:
The contents of my kitchen have been emptied into the laundry because finally, the kitchen renovation has begun. It’s taken a long time to get underway but it’s finally moving.
There’s not a great deal to see at the minute:
Hubby has removed all of the wall cabinets (hence the mess in the laundry!) and completed wiring for new hob, oven and warming drawer.
Next job was to patch up the holes with plasterboard.
And then onto the floor.
The oak floor hasn’t been treated yet, so we’ve covered it up with this old carpet from my daughter’s house to protect it until we can oil the floor.
These are some of the kitchens that I’m loving at the minute; we already have the white high gloss units but haven’t decided on the final decor.
We love this stark white kitchen with contrasting wood from Delikatessen
This one from Officina De Luxo is gorgeous, especially the tiles!
Another scandi style kitchen from mz.interior and I think you can see the look we’re going for! Watch this space!
