I’m dreaming of a Scandi Christmas

As the 1st December is fast approaching, I’ve been thinking a lot about Christmas decorations. Well actually I’ve been thinking of them for a quite a bit longer. On my last trip to Ikea, I picked up a few bits and bobs that I thought were vaguely ‘Scandi’ , but this was all a bit aimless, with no vision in mind.

I also picked up a twig tree and a pallet tree from Hobbycraft.

I’m not sure what happened to the photo, but the tree does not have blue tips!

So as the time to decorate looms, as ever, I looked to Pinterest for ideas and I want to share some of them with you. A bit like a before and after really, as I will show the results next week when I have everything in place. Last year my Christmas tree was beautiful, even if I say so myself, but it wasn’t particularly ‘scandi’, as I hadn’t found my home decor style back then (see here). I bought lots of new pink decorations, which I still love, so my tree might not fit in with the theme! But if I wasn’t keeping the pink theme, I’d be going for something like this:

I love the simplicity of a white twig tree, sparsely hung with just a few baubles.

These twig trees are stunning, but so simple to make. If I can find an empty wall space, I will definitely be having a go at one of these!

I’ve also seen lots of twig stars, which look like something I could have a go at.

You can find the instructions for this star wreath here.

Now I know candles are not just for Christmas, but they are a cheap and cheerful way to add that Christmas feel. These next ideas are all just empty bottles with a few additions of greenery.  I cannot be held responsible for you becoming an alcoholic whilst trying to collect empty bottles!

Another idea which also smells divine, is to tie cinnamon sticks around large candles. Mmm, I can almost smell them now!

I will update you next week and see how it all comes together! I will leave you with this:

My Christmas toilet roll! Because, dear friends, s**t happens!
