Bamboo bedding

I’ve been looking for new bedding for a while now and haven’t been able to find exactly what I want. I am always keen to find sustainable products wherever possible and prefer a breathable material as hubby is a very hot person and I’m always cold! When I had the opportunity to try some bamboo bedding from Pandalife, I jumped at the chance!

According to their website, the bamboo viscose used to manufacture their products is extremely breathable and it’s structure and absorption properties act as a natural insulator. I was keen to put this to the test!

The bedding arrived in this cute little bag and when I unpacked it, I found it was unbelievably soft. The bedding has a thread count of 300 but is comparable to that of 1,000 – 1,200 in the fabrics such as cotton. Well, first test passed; I can certainly vouch for that!

I love the little wooden buttons used too. Another sustainability tick! Now I am aware that the manufacture of bamboo viscose or rayon does involve a chemical process but when I checked this out, I found that Pandalife bamboo bedding is produced to an OEKO-TEX Standard 100, which basically means that the chemicals used are not harmful to the environment. I love the fact that bamboo regenerates naturally (some species grow up to 1m a day!) and is one of the most eco friendly resources on the planet. It doesn’t require any fertilisers to grow and needs a third of the amount of water compared to cotton.

I chose the plain white bedding so I could still add the customary pink touches. So the bedding had passed the eco friendly test, it looked lovely and now the sleep test! The bedding felt so soft to the touch, we couldn’t wait to get in and we weren’t disappointed; it honestly felt like sleeping on a cloud. It’s without doubt the most comfortable bedding we’ve ever tried!

I’ve got to admit I was a little dubious of the claims of temperature regulating properties but I can’t deny that it does appear to work! The micro structure of the viscose from bamboo fibres creates a highly breathable fabric which seems to sense your body temperature and adjust accordingly! Magic!

Bamboo bedding is also three times more absorbent than cotton, because of it’s micro structure which has lots of gaps and holes. This draws the moisture away from the body faster than cotton, which is great for anyone who gets vey hot during the night.

All in all, I’m really pleased with this bamboo bedding and will definitely invest in more! I can highly recommend it. You can find Pandalife here.

Thanks to Pandalife for gifting this product. All opinions are my own.
